Little Black Dress Finalists and Winner Announced for $1000 Prize

Congratulations to all of our finalists for the 6-Week Little Black Dress Project Challenge!!!

We had a celebration a few weeks ago and many of our ladies who participated in the challenge are in the photo below.

We had over 60 women enter the challenge. As with all challenges it is very tough to pick a winner. Many did better than the photos portray because you can’t always see what’s beneath the clothing. Some didn’t lose much weight, but more importantly they lost inches and body fat. Some lost a good amount of weight, but the body fat numbers and inches didn’t change as much as one would think.

Luckily, I had a judging panel to help choose the winners.

These folks are finalists and have had huge transformations for a reason. This challenge was their FOCUS!

Where focus flows, energy goes. If you want to improve anything you have to give it your all.

When you see the winners below, keep in mind that this is not a “weight loss” contest, but a fat loss and lifestyle improvement challenge. Winners are chosen based on scores in the following three areas (all areas are of equal importance):

  1. Visual appearance transformation (before & after photos) = 33%
  2. Body composition measurements (before & after) = 33%
  3. Written essay that describes your transformation experience = 33%

A finalist may have had a great visual appearance transformation, but the measurements and essay of another finalist could have been better. Some of the finalists had scores deducted due to missing information, photos and essay.

Okay, enough of the background stuff 🙂 See all 5 finalists and the winner below.

Our winner of the 6-Week Little Black Dress Project Challenge is…

MICHELLE!

CONGRATULATIONS MICHELLE – You Have Won $1000 For Your Focus!

Congratulations to all 5 finalists and to all those that participated in the challenge.

Check out Michelle’s essay below and you can see her strategies to win this challenge:

“I decided to join the LBD challenge primarily to lose weight.  While I was super excited about the rapid initial weight loss, I found my goals and motivation quickly evolved.  I also found that I learned and appreciated much more about the approach than the meal plan and exercise program which were what initially attracted me to the challenge.

My top three goals were:

  • I am 15 pounds lighter and the weight loss is visible in my face and how my pants fit
  • I feel more confident & happy with my body
  • I have successfully meditated and feel rejuvenated from it

I didn’t achieve all of my goals fully, but I got much more out of this program than I anticipated.  Some mornings it’s really hard to get out of bed and get to boot camp, but I always know I’ll feel better for it.  I now miss it when I can’t go to boot camp – that’s shocking for me but such a positive result.  I have more confidence and am more comfortable with my body, and actually stand taller, again big surprise but welcome benefit.  I like the way I look in my clothes now and I’m not as self-conscious anymore.

I am incredibly happy that I’ve met a community of people that I want to continue to be part of.   The discipline of a better sleep routine was also exponentially beneficial.  It reduced my stress, helped me focus during the day, and gave me an overall sense of calm.

The meal plan and exercise routine was so much more rewarding than I expected.  I thought it would be nearly impossible to completely eliminate sugar and carbs, but once I started and knew what to eat it wasn’t that hard and I didn’t miss it as much as I thought I would.  I learned what and how to eat and was more than satisfied.  I found my tastes changing and enjoyed food in a new way.  The preparation was key.  At first it was really hard and time consuming, but once I got into the routine it was fine.  I now incorporate this perspective on healthy eating into meals for my family so my kids can start to feel the same sort of energy and vitality I do from eating this way.

The exercise was also extremely rewarding.  I’m learning so much and continuing to challenge myself and the dynamic is amazing.  I love the attention to “learning to do it right,” positive approach and challenge.  My friends and co-workers have asked what I am doing and are motivated to try similar exercise and food habits.  I’ve already referred several people 😉

I didn’t really have the heart at first for the incantations, but ultimately I found them valuable and realizing them in my own mind was amazing… They even helped me make it through my first successful 1 minute plank and so much more.

Thank you for this life changing experience that is now becoming my way of life.”

Great work Michelle! I am very proud of you!

I will highlight the other 4 finalists in blog posts over the next few months.

If you are inspired by these ladies like I am, think about what you want to focus on for yourself.

It doesn’t take a long time to create change. It was only 6 weeks for Michelle.
