Word of the Week: CONFIDENCE

The word of the week this week is Confidence.

Confidence is belief in oneself and one’s powers or abilities.

Given my knee injury 4 months ago I have questioned my confidence a lot.

I lost my ability to do the most basic tasks: getting on and off a normal toilet, getting in and out of bed on my own, going up & down stairs, taking a shower, driving, etc.

I couldn’t sit in the passenger seat for over 2 months and I lacked the confidence to go up and down my driveway (even with the walker).

Pain and injuries will often reduce your confidence, which will ead to a slower recovery.

I had my surgery 18 weeks ago and each day has been a challenge.

Thankfully after about 9 weeks the doc said I could finally start bending my knee and from that day on I have felt some progress each day.

A feeling of progress leads to greater confidence.

I can now bend my knee 90 degrees, which is far from normal but it is progress nonetheless.

I often have to really focus on the progress because there are still many things I can’t do and it is easy to dwell on the challenges.

I am also grateful for all the healing modalities and team I have to help me get back to my normal self.

When you have support, confidence will be better and you will achieve your goals faster.

How is your confidence?

If low, in what area are you lacking confidence?

Many are confident in their work skills, but have low confidence in their ability to prioritize self-care.

If you are lacking confidence, have you asked for help?

Often times, even a short conversation with someone who has battled the same obstacles can help you overcome a challenge and give you the confidence you need to succeed.

If you lack confidence with your health & fitness I have been in the trenches and know how to help. Reach out anytime!

Confidence is when you believe in yourself and your abilities, arrogance is when you think you are better than others and act accordingly.”— Stewart Stafford
