Food Matters Wrap-Up

Hello Friends!

Our first Movie Night at Belmont Personal Training & Nutrition was a success. We saw the movie “Food Matters.” I highly recommend watching this movie even if you think you know all about the benefits of food. Below are the highlights from the event. Here are 15  things that stood out for me from the movie:

  1. 106,000 people die every year from pharmaceutical drugs related side effects
  2. Niacin (Vitamin B3) can be used to reverse depression and alcoholism and has had very few side effects
  3. Cashews (2 handfuls) are equivalent to 1 dose of Prozac
  4. Many have a difficult time accepting that there is a easy remedy for their PAIN
  5. Malnourishment = Depression *Why would people think they can feel well when they are not eating healthy?
  6. More than 70% of people with cancer die within 5 years
  7. Gearson Therapy has a 50% cure rate for cancer-check out Gearson Institute
  8. Cancer is not caused by a deficiency in cancer drugs but malnutrition
  9. The first symptom for 50% of the people with  cardiovascular disease is DEATH
  10. Make sure 51% of your diet is RAW-limit cooking foods as heat destroys your food
  11. Eat more superfoods like Raw Cacao and Spirulina (high protein)
  12. Vitamin C is very effective at killing viruses, bacteria and cancer cells
  13. Water, water, water….start your day with good water to get your bowels going. Need to detoxify
  14. Get toxins out as quick as possible through bowels-good food, colonics, enemas, and water
  15. Could it be this simple?

http://www.anh-usa.org/ This is the Alliance for Natural Health site. Here you will find important information on issues concerning our food supply and if you wish, you may sign petitions to take action as well.

http://www.organicconsumers.org/monsanto/index.cfm This is the site where you can sign up to volunteer to petition for truth in labeling. They are looking for coordinators all over the country.  Their goal: 1,000,000 signatures.

http://www.seedsofdeception.com/Public/BuyingNon-GMO/Non-GMOShopping/index.cfm This is a direct link to a non-gmo shopping guide. There is a lot of great information on this site as well.  Whole foods is in the process of certifying their entire 365 brand as non-gmo and some other companies are certifying their foods as non-gmo, look for the label.  http://www.nongmoproject.org/

www.hiddenvilla.org They have classes and/or activities for kids and adults on the calendar that are all pretty interesting.  They have a CSA program. Add your name for notification for upcoming meat sales.  Send Steve an email: [email protected] saying something like, “I would like to be added to the email distribution for the meat sales.”

So, now you’ll have plenty of reading to do until our next movie night! We are looking forward to many more movies and discussions  in the future. Our next movie will be “The World According to Monsanto.”  http://www.nfb.ca/film/monsanto-trailer/
