Smoke Point of Various Fats

Happy Sunday,

Did you know that some oils are better to cook with than others? I am sure you did, but I bet you didn’t know which are really the best to cook with and why. Do you cook with butter? Maybe you should and here is why.

First and foremost, certain people do better on certain oils. We can figure out what is best for you by understanding your Metabolic Type.

Next, you should consider the temperature the oil will be cooked.  At too high of a temperature all of them are dangerous.

Here is a great resource for finding the “smoke point” of many oils.  The “smoke point” is the temperature at which the oil becomes toxic and fully oxidized.

Once you have determined that the oil is suitable for the type of cooking you’ll be doing with it, you can then look into its benefits or deficiencies.
