We had another great interview on Thursday for the Online Weekly Coaching Program with Mark Rivera, our 2014 Holiday Transformation Runner-Up.
Mark gained 50 pounds in a year and a half from focusing on his work instead of making himself a priority. Interestingly enough as he was gaining weight he continued to do cardio. He even did 382 consecutive days of running, anywhere between 3 -32 miles per day.
Clearly running was not a great modality for Mark’s weight loss. Many have also tried cardio for weight loss with poor results.
Mark shares his strategies for success. Most importantly he will educate you about Chipotle and what to eat to lose weight if you want an inexpensive model for your food intake.
Mark ate Chipotle at least 2x a day for 75 days.

Below is Mark’s essay that he submitted for the 2014 Holiday Challenge:
“If your life were a book and you were the author how would you want it to go? I thought about this question after a family member one night candidly said “you’re fat”. A close friend echoed the same sentiment and made fun of me by saying “Gosh, I wonder why I keep gaining weight, I run daily, but I drink like a fish”. With a new job and lots more stress on my plate, I had slowly gained 48 pounds over the 22 months and was feeling very discouraged. However, I decided to change my story. I realized I could get more out life if I had a strong foundation. This foundation would be comprised of an exercise regimen that would get me into the best physical shape of my life. I started out exercising with the intention of looking a certain way, but 75 days later I obtained something so much greater that what you can see just by looking at me.
I am a Regional Director at Chipotle Mexican Grill and I have a very demanding job and schedule. A component of my job is also very social. My teammates and I often have meetings and critical discussions over lengthy 5 course meals. I work at least 6 days a week and begin work at 7am and end my day at 11pm. Finding a workout routine that fit my lifestyle was extremely difficult until I found Shamps bootcamp.
A friend of mine mentioned Shamps and told me how much more energy she had after each class. She highlighted how different every workout was from one day to the next. I decided to give it a try and called Brien to schedule the free consultation that came with my agreement. I mentioned how I worked for Chipotle, my schedule and my inability to cook daily because of how much I’m out in the field. Brien suggested I do a Chipotle diet for the next 75 days.
Working with Brien he not only offered flexible classes that were available throughout the Bay Area, but he also helped establish meals that I could eat while working at Chipotle. Initially I was tempted by alcohol and different rich foods that were constantly available at our team meetings and dinners. However, I stuck to Brien’s plan and eliminated all processed foods, sugars, gluten, grains and alcohols. I immediately started to feel rested, not bloated and felt stronger. This feeling, along with Brien’s constant encouraging words pushed me to be my best.
For breakfast, I had a smoothie made of ingredients that Brien suggest in his welcome packet. For lunch and dinner, I ate a Chipotle salad (no vinaigrette), fajitas, a choice of meat, salsa and guacamole. For snacks I had Chipotle home made guacamole with sliced bell peppers.
75 days after starting the challenge and only eating a Chipotle diet twice a day, I am now 35.8 lb lighter and reduced my body fat by 6.9%. I started the challenge at 204.8lb and 30% body fat. I am now at 169lb and 23.1%body fat. But most importantly I feel amazing! I have more energy, sleep better and this has allowed me to appreciate and love each day. With Shamps and Brien’s help I changed my path and story. Will it help you?”
Good story huh? I would love to hear your feedback below.
