'Alternative' Medicine Is Mainstream

If you truly want to live your life with more energy, less body fat, no medical drugs and reduced stress you have to read this article by: DEEPAK CHOPRA , DEAN ORNISH , RUSTUM ROY and ANDREW WEIL. The evidence is mounting that diet and lifestyle are the best cures for our worst afflictions and we alleviate people from their symptoms everyday at the Optimal Fitness Lifestyle Center.

Most do not realize how easy it really is to decrease pain, disease and symptoms of STRESS. Many are waiting for a magic pill or machine to do the work for them…most of the time it is YOUR choice whether or not YOU want to be healthy.  I know some of you are going to curse at me and want to talk to me about your poor genetic tree. Others will tell me that they have done it all, even holistic therapies without success. I have heard it all before. I am not saying I have all the answers, but there are some very smart people out there that do. I have created partnerships with eastern & western doctors and specialists all over the world and there is rarely a situation that can’t be helped.

We are now in a new time with a new president and luckily for all of us he recognizes a problem with our failing western medicine model, “As Mr. Obama states in his health plan, unveiled during his campaign: “This nation is facing a true epidemic of chronic disease. An increasing number of Americans are suffering and dying needlessly from diseases such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, asthma and HIV/AIDS, all of which can be delayed in onset if not prevented entirely.”

Notice that the President of the United States believes that obesity, diabetes, heart disease, asthma and HIV/AIDS can be delayed in onset if not prevented entirely. The article states, “Our “health-care system” is primarily a disease-care system. Last year, $2.1 trillion was spent in the U.S. on medical care, or 16.5% of the gross national product. Of these trillions, 95 cents of every dollar was spent to treat disease after it had already occurred.” Do you know why we don’t prevent disease?  There is no money in it!

Check this out, “A randomized controlled trial published in April 2007 in The New England Journal of Medicine found that angioplasties and stents do not prolong life or even prevent heart attacks in stable patients (i.e., 95% of those who receive them). Coronary bypass surgery prolongs life in less than 3% of patients who receive it.” This is not good news and should not give many faith in this procedure.

On the other hand, “The INTERHEART study, published in September 2004 in The Lancet, followed 30,000 men and women on six continents and found that changing lifestyle could prevent at least 90% of all heart disease.” Now, which model sounds more successful to you?

Yes, it is much easier to eat whatever you want, drink like a fish, avoid movement, work through the night and sleep 4 hours a day and then get a stint and angioplasty, but it sure is a lot safer to change your diet and lifestyle. You will feel better, have more energy, be a better parent, be more efficient at work and enjoy life the way it should be enjoyed. You only get one life in this body…make the most out of it!
