[MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY MESSAGE] I’m not leaving until I get what I came for

You read that subject line right…

I’m not leaving here until I get what I came for.

It comes from a story in the bible in 2 Kings chapter 4 about a woman who’s son hit his head and died. The woman then went to the prophet Elisha and asked him to follow her to go heal her son.

Elisha then gave his staff to a servant and said “go heal the son”.

Well that wasn’t good enough for this woman. Her son had just died. Sorry Elisha, but a mere servant wouldn’t cut it here.

She told him “As the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” Basically she told him “I’m not leaving….until I get what I came for…..and I came for you.”

Elisha then felt her pain, and went with her to heal her son.

You see, she could have thought “well it is Elisha’s servant, I guess it will be good enough.”

But no….this was HER SON who has just died.

Nothing less would suffice here!

She refused to leave until she got what she came for.

Think about your life, think about the way you approach things.

Do you truly give your best, or are you ok with “good enough”.

The problem with living life with a “good enough” attitude and not always striving for excellence is adversity WILL come. And when it does, good enough simply won’t BE enough.

It will cause you to fail, get busy, get distracted, or lose interest.

However approaching your job, your family, and yes even your workouts and nutrition with a “I’m not leaving here until I get what I came for attitude” is one that will allow you to withstand troubling times, busy schedules, and the negativity that surrounds us all the time.

What if you approached your nutrition and workouts like this?

Give it a shot and see if it doesn’t completely change not only the results you get, but the way you feel about exercise and nutrition from here on out.

I often say people baby themselves too much when working out. We don’t like pain which is normal. However, in order to get the body and health you desire you must give your body a reason to change, so you have to push beyond your limits a little bit with EACH and EVERY workout (given good form, skill and injuries).

I’m all about safety so I’m not asking you to overextend yourself. But what I do know is you need to be willing to be uncomfortable for a little bit if you want real change to happen.

So do it……go into each workout from here on with the mindset that “I’m not leaving here until I get what I came for,” which is a great workout, setting a new personal best in something, and knowing that you gave it your all.

Plan for success. Don’t leave anything to chance. Plan your workouts, bed time, time you will rise, meditation, water intake, time with friends & family, dinners, prep some snacks and breakfasts, and plan when you’re gonna have your splurges. Don’t leave anything to chance…...DON’T LEAVE UNTIL YOU GET WHAT YOU CAME FOR!

I’m going to leave you today with a related quote:
” Mediocre people focus on what’s WRONG, while successful people focus on what’s LEFT.”

Outdo yourself and be the best version of yourself!
