Need motivation? I got a good story.

Spartan_Sprint_2014

Congrats to all that completed the Spartan Sprint at AT&T Park on Saturday!

We had a team of 50 racers at the event!

I haven’t heard all the stories and results yet, but I did learn that Coach Cheryle came in first in her age group. She also came in second in the Monterey Beast last year in her age group.

I am sure there are many great stories from those of you that completed the course; however, I want to acknowledge Fred Ehlers.
Fred completed his first obstacle course event. He sprained his ankle early in the race, but it didn’t stop him. He finished the course with a limp and earned his medal!

If you don’t know Fred’s story a few years ago he was 400 pounds and now he is a couple pounds away from 250.

Fred is a motivation to all, especially if you are working alongside of him in a boot camp session. Each Saturday he does the same trail as the Trail Run and Hike Group, but he arrives at least 30 minutes early because we slow him down 🙂 He used to walk the Saturday trail workout. Now he runs.

Fred has been extremely consistent in his quest to lose weight. He is always striving to learn more and when faced with an obstacle, he doesn’t quit.

Tony Robbins says we are often times 2 mm away from success. This can be easily understood by a golfer who hits a golf ball. If the golfer hits the ball 2 mm to the right or left it will be off grossly off target. When one hits the sweet spot the ball goes in the right direction.

Small changes in one’s strategy can lead to a different outcome, but many quit when they encounter failure or when the results are not fast enough.

Fred, like many of us has been 2 mm away from success many times. He changed his strategy with each obstacle to lose almost 150 pounds. I am proud of him for continuing to strive for more and I am exciting to see what is next for Fred.

If you need some more motivation, join Fred at the 5:15 pm Boot Camp in Belmont during the week. He is the one with the big smile 🙂

Soon, I will interview Fred on his strategies for success. Stay tuned.

Let’s have a great week and remember…you may be 2 mm away from success right now. Don’t give up.
