New Year, New You in 2015…Right?

Here we are…2015! Whohoo!!!!

New Year, New You…Right? Let’s make it happen this year for sure!

I love the beginning of the year because I feel the desire to reflect over the previous year, to acknowledge my WINS and Challenges, and to create my outcomes for the new year.

Below is from an email I sent to those in my 75 Day Challenge that ended in December. I thought I would re-purpose it here for you given the NEW YEAR!

Sometimes it is tough to find a WIN if you feel a Loss. Can you find anything positive in the last 365 days?

What did you learn that can help you reach your goals in 2015 and beyond?

I’m certain that challenges presented themselves in 2014.

Were they new problems or the same old challenges you have been dealing with?

Tony Robbins says our biggest problem is that we think we shouldn’t have problems. What if we took a moment in quiet time, didn’t react and viewed our problems as gifts?

The only difference between problems and gifts is the meaning we give it. Out of our deepest pain will come our greatest gifts, but this can only happen if you take control of the meaning.

What if we played the game of life differently in 2015 and we embraced pain and challenges?

What if we said “bring it on” instead of numbing or avoiding the problem like many do in our culture?

What if life is happening for us, not to us?

If you reflect back on your past and pick a time that was challenging, what have you learned from that experience? Who have you become as a result of that experience?

One of my biggest problems in life was going bankrupt in 2009. I had a negative bank account, an unhappy wife (because I didn’t give her the attention she deserved),  2 year old daughter and another child on the way.

I learned I needed to move on and to give up on trying to make a business model work that wasn’t for many years. I learned to spend within my means. I learned as one door closes that another opens and GOD is with me through the thick & thin.  I was never really alone although I felt I was.

I became stronger from the experience. Rather than just making quick decisions, I now do my best to discern to GOD. The experience has also allowed me to relate to others with similar financial problems. I now see problems as gifts and I am very grateful for everything in life including you.

What if the divine is trying to teach you something from your challenges in 2014 and every obstacle in your life?

  • What were your WINS and Challenges in 2014?
  • What gifts can you now see from the challenges that you were presented in 2014?
  • What do you want to achieve in 2015? Create your SMART (Specific, Measureable, Attainable, Realistic and Tangible) Goals for the next 3 months.
  • What do you really want? Generally, what we think we want is not what we really need (i.e. if you want to lose weight, why?).
  • What are you going to do differently this year?
  • Do you need to reduce your stress ? Meditate? Exercise more? Eat better? Get more sleep?
  • Are you going to take your needs more seriously?
  • Or, will you allow 2015 to pass by without changing a thing?

If you haven’t put much thought into reflecting on 2014 and what you want out of 2015, I recommend doing it NOW. If you don’t you will get distracted by something much less important and the end of the month will be here before you know it.

You may not be a writer, but I highly recommend writing down your answers to the above questions. In addition, write your top 3 SMART Goals on colored paper and review them after you wake up and before you go to bed, so you will be constantly aware of your 2015 Goals.

I wish you and your family great health and happiness in this new year.
