Oat Bar Recipe: Healthy Food, Healthy You Food Clinic on November 4th at Optimal Fitness

Happy Thursday,

Do you ever experience a drop in energy around 2-4 pm? How about hunger as you are going to the gym? Nothing worse than being hungry before you workout or while you are working out. Here is the deal…you should never be hungry or thirsty. If you are, you have waited too long to eat or drink and this will create havoc with your physiology. The body doesn’t really like the feeling of being starved so give it what it wants…good nutrition every few hours. While this is not a new concept, it is a powerful one and often ignored one by billions of busy people all around the world. Busy people (myself included) have a hard time with eating often and this neglect of self is one of the main reasons for belly fat, hormonal issues, high and lows, fatigue, headaches, and more. It is so easy to change this and avoid the resulting symptoms…eat more often.Getting married to a good cook also helps 🙂

If you are wondering about the photo to the right, I am getting ready for my trip to Sedona tomorrow for a week. Very excited!

If you want some ideas for healthy snacks, check back here often as I will keep giving you recipes to add to your tool box . If you have a recipe that you would like to share, please add it in the comment section below and I will give you a $5 credit on your Optimal Fitness account.

Check out our Healthy Food, Healthy You–Food Clinic on November 4th. You will get tons of ideas, have a sample of some great snacks & desserts, and get new recipes like the one below. Keep in mind that this clinic will likely be the last one for at least a year, given Chris & I will be having our second child in February 2010.

Here is a recipe for you to try:

OAT BAR RECIPEoatbar

  • Pre-heat oven to 350

Mix

  • 3 cups Organic Oats
  • 2 cups Quinoa Flour
  • 3 cups Organic Dried Fruit of Choice
  • ½ cup Flaxseed Powder
  • 4 tsp Baking Powder
  • 3 T Cinnamon
  • 3 T Agave Nectar
  • 3 T Vanillaoatbar
  • 1 & ½ Sticks of Raw Butter
  • 3-3 &1/2 Cups H2O

It is a bit of a runny mixture, but don’t worry because it cooks up fine. Bake for 35 minutes in a 9×13 pan.

Play with the recipe, given this is not the original recipe.  I have changed it to be more healthy and if you have any changes, please share with me.

On November 4, 2009 @ 6:30 pm, my wife, Chris & I will be teaching our last Healthy Food, Healthy You Food Clinic for a while. You will leave with new ideas for healthy snacks & desserts and get to taste many of the recipes.

I have a special 2 for 1 offer for you.  If you are already signed up or plan on signing up, you can bring a friend for free!
