Brien Shamp and the Baseball Performance Program were featured in the latest edition of Parenting on the Peninsula. Parenting on the Peninsula (POP) is a monthly journal serving the San Francisco Peninsula and the Silicon Valley whose sole purpose is to provide valuable parenting information for parents of children of all ages.
Mike Salemi is also a Coach of the program and adds his expertise on Strength & Conditioning that should be mentioned. Mike Salemi and Brien Shamp make a great team and compliment each other extremely well. Besides the Baseball Performance Program, Mike and Brien are the Strength Coaches at the College of San Mateo for the baseball team and Notre Dame de Namur for the women’s basketball team. They recently created a new business which will be launched soon and will be coming out with a series of DVDs that are designed to help baseball players achieve their “optimal” performance.
Here is a little excerpt from the article:
Shamp’s Performance Edge program has continued to help countless players improve their posture, flexibility, and mobility, helping to prevent injuries and recover faster. “Recovery is often a misunderstood or neglected word for athletes,” he said. “Without recovery, there is little gain. Whenever an athlete engages in throwing, hitting, running, or strength training, the tissues break down and they need to recover so they’ll be ready for the next workout. If too much is done too soon, an overuse injury is inevitable.”
