Now that you have been in the program for awhile I wanted to find out how you are doing with your daily self massage program.
Please do your best to arrive 5-10 minutes before class to perform your self-massage warm-up routine.
This specific warm-up has been proven to increase circulation, body temperature, prepare the body for activity, improve posture & flexibility and reduce pain & future injuries.
Most injuries can be avoided if you perform self massage daily, do your best to attain ideal posture during the day (especially when seated) and take the time to set up your foundation prior to performing each exercise:
- Check posture- tall lengthened spine with eyes straight ahead
- Draw belly in towards spine
- Engage bladder
- Tuck butt when standing or supine
- Breathe with movements
You can see a video of the foam roll warm-up here: Self Massage Program
I also recommend other massage tools: baseball/softball, golf ball and stick. These are good to have for the house also.
Lastly, do your best to get a massage from a therapist at least one time per month. Check out my recommended resources: https://brienshamp.com/
By taking the time to work on yourself you will stay healthy and reduce pain!
Your friend & coach,
Brien
