Word of the Week: SLEEP

The word of the week is SLEEP.

Sleep is a condition of body and mind that typically recurs for several hours every night, in which the nervous system is relatively inactive, the eyes closed, the postural muscles relaxed, and consciousness practically suspended.

Sleep is primal need #3 and one of the top 4 life-sustaining absolutes because you can only live approximately 11 days without it.

1 in 3 adults don’t get enough sleep on a regular basis and about 70 million Americans suffer from chronic sleep problems (CDC).

Getting ENOUGH sleep has a greater influence for weight loss, reducing belly fat and improving health than both nutrition and exercise.

Good QUALITY sleep is probably the most important factor in overall wellness.

How’s your sleep? 

  • How long does it take you to fall asleep?
  • Do you wake up during the night? Trouble falling back asleep?
  • How long does it take you to pop out of bed and to get going?
  • domestic animal, 20-24 years, one woman only, bedroom

    How Is Your Motivation (To Be Better, Workouts, Sex Drive)?

  • Focus, Mental – Emotional Health, Energy?
  • Do you ever fall asleep during the day? 
  • Anger Issues?
  • Recovery from workouts & life’s stressors? 
  • Restless sleep? Snoring? Choking for air?

The above questions should give you better insight on your need for sleep and your overall health.

Sleep Challenge:
Good: Consider creating some new sleep rituals to get more sleep.
Better: Do better today than yesterday for meeting your sleep quality needs.
Best: Get clear on the time you want to be in bed and asleep and wind down 30-60 minutes prior to bed time each night.
