What’s your Love Language?

What does knowing your love language have to do with getting fit & healthy?

Plenty actually!

How are you doing in this area of your life?

Do you feel fulfilled?

If you feel a lack please keep reading below.

If you feel incomplete with any Primal Need there are ramifications with the other needs.

If you don’t feel satisfied in a relationship, there will often be major anxiety and stress and the following are likely to occur:

-Breathing becomes fast & shallow.
-Digestive system gets compromised do to bad food choices, eating to fast and mindless eating.
-Over or under eating.
-Mind will feel overwhelmed and paralyzed.
-Reduced water intake.
-Eat for temporarily pleasure- comfort food increases late at night.
-Reduced sleep quantity and quality- will often wake up during the night with to do’s and decisions on your mind.
-Frequent skipped workouts – will often make excuses that there is too much to do.

Now that you understand how it all plays out let’s get to it.
Below you will see a great article from my friend & colleague Erin Garay:

Do you know what your love language is?

Do you know your partner’s love language? Or your family members’ or dearest friends’?

Our love language is the primary way we interpret being loved.

Have you ever experienced a situation where you worked really hard at something for a loved one and knew it was going to be perfect- perfect gift, perfect surprise party, perfect carving out of your schedule so you could spend time with them and their response was…”Meh,” and you both walked away mad, frustrated and disconnected. It happens….a lot.

But there is something that can begin to help this misunderstanding of love- Determining your love language.

You may connect with all five of these languages, but in further investigation you will probably find one means more to you than the rest.

The five love languages are:

1) Words of Affirmation- using words to build up someone
2) Gifts
3) Acts of Service- Doing something you know your loved one would love
4) Quality time-Giving undivided attention (no cell, no TV) to your loved one
5) Physical touch

It’s important for individuals in relationships to know each others’ love languages so we can make the effort to show our loved ones in the way they need to feel loved.

Back to my example earlier, we can work really hard preparing to love up on our loved one in a certain way, but if it isn’t their love language, they won’t be as excited and won’t feel the love in the way you were hoping they would feel your love…and they couldn’t feel it because you literally weren’t speaking their language.

We can use this system two ways:

1) We can purposely know our loved one’s love language and love them in the way we know they want to be loved

2) We can begin to recognize all the love they’ve been trying to give us that we didn’t notice because it might not have been the same love language as us.

We often speak our own love language and expect the other to feel it in the way we feel it. It simply doesn’t work.

Here’s a great quiz you can take that will help you and your loved ones determine your love language.

Have your children take it. Have your friends take it. The more love languages you know about the people around you, they more you are able to fully express your love to them in the way that they feel it most and begin to recognize how much love is actually coming your way that you may not have noticed before.

It makes such a huge difference. My daughter is a quality time child, and I notice her behavior will shift, positively or negatively, depending on the quality time she gets from me in a day.

I can’t wait to hear about your love language experience.
What’s your love language?
Did you begin to see how much love your loved one was trying to share with you once you realized how they love?
How much more loved did your loved one feel when you shifted your showering of love into their language?

I can’t wait to hear how you are spreading the love this week!

Much love,
Erin
