17 ways to transform yourself in 2014!

73Before we get to 2014, I want to thank you…my Boot Camp Coaches, subscribers, clients, friends, family and mentors for a great 2013!

So many things to be grateful for, but the most important thing is the growth of my community.

There are now 7 Boot Camp locations on the peninsula creating happy, healthy & fit campers (two in Belmont, two in Menlo Park, San Carlos, Burlingame and Foster City). There is also a NEW Youth Obstacle Boot Camp Program in Belmont.

We had some amazing Team Shamp Fitness Events at Tough Mudder, Spartan Race, Oktoberfest 5k Color Run and Half Marathon, San Carlos Rotary Run, Fight for Air Climb with the San Mateo Fire Department, Belmont Relay for Life and the Nike Women’s Half Marathon in San Francisco.

These events did not only allow us to get into great shape. They kept us on track with our health & fitness goals, we overcame obstacles and got over our fears, we created new friendships, we battled and shared memories together. And, we raised a lot of money for the various fundraisers associated with the events.

The Saturday Trail Run & Hike Group was created in January 2013 and the team met rain or shine, cold or hot each Saturday. This group also became much of my social network in 2013. Many great pot lucks and memories!

The 9 am Saturday Boot Camp at Harbor also developed a solid community and now given the demand we are adding an 8 am class starting this Saturday. Saturdays are fun challenge days with obstacles similar to those seen at the Spartan Race and Tough Mudders.

I look forward to seeing many more of you in the community in 2014.

We are planning some fun monthly events in 2014. The first will be a pamper party for the boot camp ladies out there…more to come. We will also be creating more community support programs for the much-needed nutrition side of things.

Now let’s talk about transformation in 2014…

  • What are you going to do differently in 2014?
  • Are you going to reduce your stress level?
  • Are you going to improve your nutrition?
  • Are you going to take your needs more seriously?
  • Or will you allow the next 365 days to pass by without changing a thing?

If you haven’t put any thought into it, then do so now.

The fact is that you will age and change in 2014, and next year on 12-31-14 you will be slightly (or dramatically) different than you are today.

The cool thing about a New Year is that it gives us the opportunity to reflect over our life, to acknowledge where we are and where we want to be headed.

If you would like to be headed in the direction of improved health, lowered body fat and increased strength, then here are 17 suggested changes for you to apply in 2014:

1) Do your best to get 30 minutes of movement each day.
2) Go to bed and wake up at the same time each day.
3) Drink less alcohol.
4) Sign up for one of my time-tested fitness programs. 6 Week New Year’s Revolution Starts January 6th
5) Stop drinking and eating artificial sweeteners.
6) Push yourself harder if your form is good and you are recovering well from the program.
7) Eat less bread, or even eliminate gluten from your diet.
8) Train for a 5K, Tough Mudder or a marathon.
9) Eliminate high fructose corn syrup from your diet.
10) Drink at least 8 glasses of filtered water each day.
11) Eat healthy, simple dinners at home.
12) Do not eat fast food.
13) Consume less caffeine.
14) Eat more protein and fiber.
15) Limit pasteurized dairy (only consume Organic butter, yogurt and cheese).
16) Do not eat packaged snack foods.
17) Contact me for motivation, education and support.

Now come up with a few of your own. I know there are some ideas that popped into your mind while you were reading my list.

Take a minute to jot those down.

Step back and re-examine the list. Which of these changes are you going to make your own?

I certainly don’t expect you to make all of these changes – though the more you do, the greater your transformation will be.

Remember, like I mentioned above in #4 and #17, I’m here to offer you the coaching, support and motivation you need to make 2014 the year of your dramatic transformation.

Wishing you great health and happiness in this new year.

I am blessed to be your coach. Thank you!

Brien
