It has been one of those weekends. I was in So Cal for a meeting and then I got a call from my wife that my father-in-law, Mort (in photo on the right) had a stroke and is in critical condition. I left the meeting ASAP and now I am in Elk Grove with the family. Mort is doing very well given the situation, but he still doesn’t have much feeling on his left side. I would love your prayers for a full recovery!
Mort was at my barbecue last Sunday and as many of you saw, he looked & felt great.
Mort’s stroke got me thinking about a few things:
- Just because you look healthy today or got a few lab tests done from your doc indicating you are “healthy”… tomorrow is a new day.
- It is imperative to make yourself a priority & treat the body like an efficient machine. (We need to reduce as much stress as possible- take time for self to meditate and pray, stay hydrated, eat high quality food, sleep 8 hours each day, be in healthy relationships and get movement each day).
- We do our best to be in control, but really, there is a master plan for all of us.
- Enjoy each moment as if it was the last.
- Have faith.
- Be grateful for what we have because it can be taken away in a second.
- It’s not about me.
- Don’t sweat the little things in life.
- The importance of family, love, community and prayer.
If all goes as planned I will be back in the Bay Area on Tuesday and teaching in Belmont.
In this newsletter, you will see an article called “5 Simple Exercises For Sculpted & Toned Legs” and a Pesto Spaghetti recipe below.
