What You May Not Know About Fat Loss & Weight Reduction

I hope you are having a great week. I have been in SoCal for most of the week learning the latest and greatest in the boot camp and personal training world with 400 top trainers from around the world.

Lots of discussions about how to lose body fat & weight reduction – what works and what doesn’t.

Research is clearly showing what the “best” trainers and boot camp instructors have proven for years…

Short bursts of explosive resistance training is the best solution when it comes to your choice of exercise for fat loss & weight reduction. This was mentioned in my Fat Loss Tip #4 a few months ago.

I know some of you who are on walking, running, cycling, elliptical and swimming programs and believe “aerobic exercise” is the key to fat loss will be a little perturbed. However, this is not my opinion, it is proven in the research and by millions who have wasted their time in the gyms for years.

Aerobic training is a waste of your time if fat loss or weight reduction is your goal.

Aerobic training has many other benefits, but it will not help you lose the body fat & weight you desire.

How many of you in the past have waited in line at the health clubs to use their ellipticals & treadmills, did your aerobic workout for 20-30 minutes multiple times a week and repeated this pattern for years without reducing your fat or weight?

It is not your fault and you are not alone. Millions of people have experienced the same problem.

Here is a finding from a study by Hopkins, Mark, et. al. in Sports Medicine: 1 June 2011 – Volume 41 – Issue 6 – pp 507-52:

“Due to the increased energy demand, aerobic exercise may act as a biological cue to trigger compensatory eating as a result of perturbations to muscle and liver glycogen stores.”

If you don’t understand what the above says it can be interpreted as “aerobic exercise may make you hungry and eat more.” It can then lead to weight gain and increased fat.

There is a lot more to the fat loss story.
